Maintenance Technician

Overview

Maintenance Technician I – assists with general repair in a building/warehouse setting, including conveyors, carton sorters, racking, dock equipment, forklifts, plumbing, carpentry, and installation of building components.

Location:

La Vista (114th & Giles). Night shift:
Sun‑Thurs 10:30 pm‑7 am.

• Assist in repairing, installation, and relocation of conveyor belts and racking, including handling items weighing up to 200 lb.
• Maintain equipment such as forklifts, conveyors, dock levelers, and trailer restraints.
• Respond to maintenance calls or requests promptly under general supervision.
• Dismantle equipment or machines and perform proper repairs.
• Verify corrections before job completion.
• Paint walls, furniture, and miscellaneous items as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Complete work order documentation and submit it to the Maintenance Team Leader on time.
• Conduct all work activities safely and maintain a clean work environment.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Abide by all policies and procedures of Oriental Trading Company.
• Work requires in‑person collaboration with colleagues and contractors.

• Assist with repairs and installation of plumbing, including faucets and drain clogs.
• Assist with repairs and construction of walls, shelves, and cabinets.
• Deliver parts as needed.
• Install, disassemble, and move new and existing furniture and modular cubicles.
• Perform snow removal with proper equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• May drive company vehicle between locations; valid driver’s license and driving record required.

• Compliance with OSHA regulations.
• Ability to climb ladders and access roof/ceiling.
• Knowledge and use of hand and power tools.
• Demonstrated proficiency in operating equipment per OTC certification standards.
• Must provide own hand tools.

• High school diploma or equivalent or combination of education and experience.

• Preferred:
  One year experience in manual labor or maintenance.

• Minimum age 18.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lb on a regular basis.
• Must walk frequently, use elevators, and climb open grate stairways.
• Ability to work rotational weekend shifts and be on‑call the entire weekend.
