LocationCanada (any province outside Quebec). The role is hybrid: three days in the office with expectations of periodic travel.
Role OverviewThe Advanced Financial Planning department is a collaborative team of 45 legal, tax, and financial‑planning professionals. The team supports IG Wealth Management advisors with tax planning, estate planning, and financial‑planning software on complex cases, and provides training and resource materials to high‑net‑worth clients and external professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Provide advanced taxation and financial‑planning support to IG Wealth Management advisors via telephone and email.
- Prepare written reports for complex client situations, advising on tax, estate, and other financial‑planning opportunities.
- Analyze financial plans for potential tax issues, especially for business owners and private corporations.
- Conduct independent meetings or conference calls with clients and their advisors regarding tax and estate planning.
- Present concepts and deliver continuing education sessions to advisors and the Advanced Financial Planning team.
- Develop and provide training to other IG Wealth Management departments on advanced taxation, estate planning, and related financial‑planning issues.
- Advocate IG Wealth Management’s financial‑planning approach to the media, public audiences, and professional organizations.
- Complete the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation with FP Canada if not already obtained.
- Completion of a post‑secondary university degree and attainment of a Canadian professional accounting designation.
- Minimum five years’ experience in advanced taxation and estate planning, with preference for additional industry‑related education such as the CPA Canada in‑depth tax course or Trust and Estate Practitioner designation.
- Continuous learner staying current with business trends and changes in tax law.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; bilingual ability in English and French is an asset.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and public‑speaking/training abilities.
- Ability to work independently with light supervision and adapt to change.
- Proficiency with Windows‑based PC tools.
