Position: Controller (onsite)

Controller – Direct Hire, Full-Time Employee

Lead the full accounting and financial operations for a fast-growing, multi-division service organization. This is a hands-on, high-impact leadership role responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, cash management, and strategic guidance across HVAC, electrical, service, and installation operations.

Financial Leadership

Oversee all accounting functions: GL, AP/AR, payroll, fixed assets, and reporting
Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Drive month-end and year-end close
Strengthen financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
Present financial results and KPIs to ownership and executive leadership

Cost Accounting & Job Costing

Lead labor costing, inventory valuation, overhead allocation, and project profitability
Maintain accurate job costing for HVAC, electrical, replacement, and install work
Analyze margins by department, service line, technician, and project
Identify cost-saving opportunities and operational improvements
Partner with operations to improve profitability and efficiency

Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategy

Lead annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting
Monitor performance vs. budget and provide variance analysis
Build financial models to support decisions, growth initiatives, and capital planning

Cash Flow & Risk

Manage cash flow, banking, and working capital
Monitor financial risks and ensure regulatory compliance
Coordinate audits and tax preparation with external partners

Inventory & Operational Finance

Oversee inventory accounting and reconciliation
Ensure accurate valuation of materials and equipment
Implement controls to reduce shrinkage and improve accountability

Team Leadership

Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team
Build a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement
Implement best practices to scale with growth

What You Bring

7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience with leadership responsibilities
Strong expertise in cost accounting, job costing, inventory accounting, and financial analysis
Deep knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
Advanced Excel and ERP/accounting system skills
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work onsite in Lacey, WA

Preferred

Bachelor's in Accounting
CPA strongly preferred
Experience in HVAC, electrical, construction, home services, manufacturing, or project-based industries
Experience with service management or job-costing platforms
Background supporting multi-location or fast-growing organizations
