Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented PT Senior Tax Reviewer (EA/CPA) to join our team and lead the review of complex tax filings, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations. The Senior Tax Reviewer serves as the firm's senior technical tax reviewer and quality assurance professional. This position is responsible for performing the final review of complex individual and business tax returns, resolving technical tax matters, mentoring tax preparers and reviewers, and supporting firm leadership with workflow management and process improvement.

Unlike a traditional tax preparation role, this position focuses primarily on reviewing completed tax engagements, identifying technical issues, ensuring compliance with current tax laws and IRS regulations, and maintaining the firm's quality standards before returns are finalized and delivered to clients.

The Senior Tax Reviewer works closely with firm leadership to promote consistency, accuracy, efficiency, and professional development throughout the tax department while helping deliver an exceptional client experience.

Candidates with prior Tax Manager experience are encouraged to apply. Depending on qualifications and the firm's needs, a part‑time Tax Manager opportunity may also be considered

Responsibilities
  • Perform the final review of complex individual and business tax returns to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance prior to filing.
  • Review work prepared by Tax Preparers and Tax Reviewers, identifying technical issues, errors, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Research and resolve complex federal and Washington tax issues by applying current tax laws, regulations, and IRS guidance.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training to Tax Preparers and Tax Reviewers to support their professional growth and development.
  • Ensure all tax engagements comply with firm quality standards, internal review procedures, and applicable IRS and state tax regulations.
  • Assist with tax season workflow by helping prioritize return reviews and supporting the timely completion of client engagements.
  • Support firm leadership by identifying opportunities to improve tax review procedures, workflow efficiency, and the overall quality of tax engagements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of federal and Washington tax laws and communicate significant changes that may impact tax return preparation or review.
  • Collaborate with the tax team to promote consistency, technical accuracy, and continuous improvement throughout the tax review process.
Skills
  • Active Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA license in good standing.
  • Minimum 8 - 10+ years of recent public accounting or tax firm experience.
  • Minimum 8 – 10+ years of tax review and leadership experience.
  • Extensive experience reviewing Forms 1040, 1120, 1120‑S, 1065.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and Washington tax law and issues.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements while meeting deadlines.
  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior tax professionals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Intuit Pro Connect Tax.
  • Experience with Quick Books Online.
  • Experience with IRS notices and tax resolution.
  • Experience conducting tax planning and advisory meetings.
  • Experience working with small business clients and entity structuring.
  • Experience reviewing multi‑state individual and business tax returns.
