Position Details:
The Opportunity:
As the Energy Program Coordinator for the Energy Program
, you will serve in a high-level, public-facing role within the Green Transportation Program at Washington State University (WSU) Energy Program. In this position, you will provide direct education and technical assistance to public and institutional fleets across the Northwest, supporting their transition to alternative fuels and electric transportation. Your responsibilities will include program development and administration, outreach and engagement with diverse stakeholders, public education, and hands-on technical support for program clients.
You will also collaborate closely with the current Green Transportation Program lead to build an effective co-leadership model to guide this growing program.
To succeed, you will work both independently and collaboratively, manage multiple concurrent priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality client service in a fast-paced environment. In this role, you will play a critical part in advancing equitable, data-driven, and practical solutions that reduce transportation emissions.
Additional Information:
This is a full time (100% FTE),
temporary position. Overtime eligibility will be determined based on final salary placement.
Temporary End Date: This is a temporary position expected to end on June 30th, 2027
. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
Monthly Salary: $5,705.16 - $8,738.29 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant extension program discipline and two (2) years of related program experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirements on a year-for-year basis. A Masters degree in a related energy program field may be substituted for the required education.
- Experience developing and implementing related programs.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
- Ability and willingness to travel regionally, including occasional overnight travel.
- Experience with light-, medium-, and heavy-duty electric vehicles, including battery-electric and fuel-cell-electric vehicles.
- Technical expertise with EV charging technologies (AC Level 2, DC Fast Charging) and installation processes.
- Familiarity with Washington and regional utilities, including investor- and consumer-owned utilities.
- Knowledge of renewable energy and distributed energy resources.
- Knowledge of transportation decarbonization, carbon markets, and environmental justice.
- Experience managing grants and/or contracts.
- Experience developing funding proposals and identifying funding sources.
- Experience working with key interested stakeholders (e.g. fleet managers for businesses, industry, Tribal governments, schools, other public and private entities).
