Recreation Aide I​/II​/III - Playground Pals & Summer Day Camp

Reporting to the Recreation Site Coordinator, the Recreation Aide I/II/III are responsible for assisting in the implementation of the day camp programs and will work at one of three elementary schools within the North Thurston School Public District. These positions will work 20-40 hours per week from approximately the end of June to the middle of August, with additional hours for program planning/setup, and staff training.

Summer Day Camp:
We offer a fun and safe day camp experience for youth, ages 6 to 12, during the summer and over school breaks. Weekly camps are theme-oriented and packed with creative and healthy outdoor activities, including field trips, swimming, sports, group games, arts and crafts, special guests, and events.

Playground Pals:
This program is offered in conjunction with the Summer Lunch Program. Children ages 6 to 12 can come for lunch and then stay for Playground Pals. On site staff provide structured play and craft activities, along with special guests and events.

Recreation Aide I                              $16.84 - $17.80 Hourly

Recreation Aide II                             $18.25 - $19.48 Hourly  

Recreation Aide III                            $19.42 - $20.73 Hourly

Must have high school diploma or G.E.D. OR any combination of education and experience which would provide for the desired knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job.

Must pass a thorough background investigation and successfully complete pre-employment medical testing for the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Must be attentive to job safety considerations and follows all required safety policies, procedures and techniques.

Must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver's license and a driving record acceptable to the City and the City's insurance carrier OR must be able to provide own transportation to and from job, meetings, and related job sites. Must possess a valid Food Handler's certification, OR the ability to obtain before the program begins.

Must possess valid First Aid and CPR certifications, OR the ability to obtain before the program begins.

Verification of identity and United States work authorization must be completed as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act
