Pastoral Assistant for Liturgy and Pastoral Care
Location:

Position Type:

Salary Range: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
Reports to:
Father Bryan Ochs
- Collaborates with the Pastoral Leader, staff, and consultative bodies in implementing the mission of the parish.
- Directs the parish worship programs; develops and organizes plans that respond to the parish workshop and prayer needs and oversees the provision of quality sacramental and liturgical celebrations in collaboration with the presider.
- Oversees planning, development, implementation and evaluation of both the Eucharist and sacramental celebrations of the parish.
- Coordinates liturgical celebrations, special liturgies or paraliturgies scheduled throughout the year.
- Collaborates with the Pastoral Assistant for Music in the development of a comprehensive liturgical plan.
- Coordinates the work of the liturgy teams and committees, as well as the work of the various liturgical ministers, including presiders, lectors, Eucharist ministers, servers, musicians, sacristans, artists, ushers and others.
- Recruits, screens, trains, and supports these ministers, ensuring completion of background checks as appropriate.
- Ensures adequate materials for worship are available; oversees purchase and supply of sacred vessels, vestments, and other liturgical supplies.
- Serves as a local parish resource to the pastoral leader and other staff by providing assistance or consultation for their worship needs and responsibilities.
- Prepares and administers an annual liturgy budget as delegated by the pastoral leader.
- Makes ongoing learning a priority, reading appropriate materials and attending workshops and conventions to maintain required knowledge and skills.
- Participates in appropriate local, regional and national professional liturgical organizations.
- Coordinates pastoral care activities in collaboration with the pastoral leader, staff and appropriate consultative bodies.
- Identifies pastoral care needs within the parish community and neighbourhood, including persons who are homebound, ill, grieving, disabled, and/or in need of food, clothing or housing.
- Prepares short and long‑range plans and develops programs, goals and strategies to respond to these needs.
- Assures development of volunteers for pastoral care purposes, recruits, screens, trains, motivates and supports volunteers, and provides ongoing opportunities for faith sharing, formation and development.
- Serves as the coordinator between the parish and various outreach services and organizations.
- Ensures availability of information and referral services by the parish for pastoral concerns.
- Develops and administers the outreach budget as delegated by the pastoral leader.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
