Employment begins: 2026-27 school year.

Standard Position Description Part I:
Position Summary

The teacher is primarily responsible for effective teaching and learning of the assigned subject(s) following district approved curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices. Primary responsibility shall include student safety, effective collaboration and attention to each student’s readiness to learn, including guide, discipline, and welfare. Employee may teach in a variety of elementary and secondary educational settings and may also serve learning support services and library duties.

Supervision and Controls over the Work

The teacher works with a high level of independence and professional discretion under the general supervision of a designated school administrator. The work is governed, controlled, and evaluated by professional practice, school and district policies, administrative code, and the collective bargaining agreement.

Part III:
Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan for student success based on assessed needs, use data to determine current knowledge and skill level, set learning goals, and assess progress. Use district approved assessment tools and strategies and assist with inclusion and accommodation requirements under IEP and 504 plans.
  • Work collaboratively in a professional learning community with other teachers and support staff to develop effective teaching and assessment practices.
  • Regularly conduct lesson planning using professional practice aligned with district curriculum, incorporating research‑based instructional strategies.
  • Maintain and provide meaningful grading and evaluation consistent with policy and communicate progress to students and parents.
  • Integrate approved technology into planning, learning, progress reporting, and record‑keeping.
  • Create, communicate, and maintain classroom management practices that engage students and enforce discipline procedures consistently.
  • Actively participate in faculty, grade‑level, or department meetings, and assist building efforts to plan, budget, implement, and evaluate the school program.
  • Observe student needs and intervene when students are at risk or in danger, ensuring a safe learning environment.
  • Supervise students during school activities and events, remaining vigilant throughout the school day.
  • Establish and review a professional growth plan annually with the administrator.
  • Follow board policies and stay abreast of updates and changes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Learning Support Services Responsibilities
  • Diagnose academic needs and provide supplemental instruction for remedial students.
  • Coach teachers voluntarily and as directed by district.
  • Provide professional development for all staff.
  • Implement interventions based on achievement data.
  • Collect and analyze data; lead grade‑level and school‑level data meetings.
  • Comply with Federal and State requirements for LAP and Title programs.
  • Consult regularly with classroom teachers on remedial techniques and appropriate materials.
  • Supervise instructional assistants in carrying out programs for identified students.
  • Maintain record keeping for identified students.
Librarian Responsibilities
  • Work within an interdisciplinary curriculum and coordinate instruction closely with classroom teachers.
  • Provide instruction on information and technology skills across all school levels.
  • Organize and maintain the School Library Information and Technology Program.
Part IV:

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience working with culturally diverse families and communities.
  • Valid Washington state teaching certificate and/or endorsement. Librarians must have Washington State teaching certificate and Librarian/Multi‑Media certification or completed core competency library endorsement program.
  • Minimum three years of effective teaching experience.
  • Strong knowledge of intervention strategies and techniques.
  • Commitment to completing highly qualified criteria including praxis requirements.
  • Demonstrated content knowledge for subjects and levels taught.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication with parents, students, and staff.
