Climate Change: Clean Fuel Standard, Third Party Verifier Planner; Environmental Planner

The Department of Ecology is hiring an Environmental Planner 4 to lead the development and operation of Washington's third-party verification program for the Clean Fuel Standard. This position will certify verifiers, design training materials, monitor compliance, and serve as a subject matter expert on greenhouse gas reporting and verification within the state's clean fuel market. The role is project-funded through December 31, 2028, based in Lacey, WA with telework eligibility and hybrid schedule options.

• Nine years of experience in program development, regulatory interpretation, technical review, and environmental or regulatory program design
• Ability to conduct research, analyze data, and develop tracking systems to inform program decisions
• Experience coordinating with agencies and regulated entities to exchange information and maintain consistency across jurisdictions
• Skilled in designing and delivering training to ensure compliance and proficiency among third-party verifiers
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and ability to translate them into clear guidance and procedures
• Experience handling sensitive or confidential information using secure data management practices
