Event Manager / Planner, Event Staff/ Venue Crew, Customer Service Rep
Reporting to the Recreation Coordinator, the Special Events Recreation Aide III will assist the Special Event Staff in providing technical support to performers and presentations at Huntamer Park and other parks as scheduled for summer entertainment series including concerts and shows as well as movies. For community festivals including but limited to:
Lacey Cultural Celebration, Lacey Spring Fun Fair, and July 3 rd Fireworks Spectacular, plus the Summer Entertainment Series, Children’s Day, Breakfast with Santa and Lacey Holiday Lights. The main focus of this position will be assisting with set up, decorating, managing crowds, leading event activities, assisting with vendors, providing customer service to the public, vendors, & performers, and tear down and clean up after events.
In addition, this position may assist with distribution of event promotional materials and securing donations for events where applicable. This part time position requires working on event evenings and weekends in addition to some flexible weekday hours as needed.

The Parks, Culture & Recreation Department serves the community by providing health, inspiration, and recreation opportunities through quality programming, facilities, and community events. In addition, the department furthers the preservation and enhancement of the environment through planned parks, open spaces and natural habitat areas.

These duties include but are not limited to the following:- Set up and tear down of event equipment including tents, tables, signage, etc.
- Decorating for select events
- Maintain inventories of supplies and equipment in an orderly fashion.
- Ensure a safe environment in the park for audiences, performers and staff.
- Assist with maintenance and operation of equipment and ensure safe and proper use; protect city’s equipment and supplies against pilferage, loss, theft, weather, or abuse.
- Assist with vendors: recruiting, communication, organization, and follow up for select events.
- Assist with promotion of events, distribution of flyers, posters, etc. to businesses in the community.
- Assist with set up and tear down of events.
- Ensure a safe environment for citizens and staff.
- Comply with the City of Lacey safety standards and procedures.
- Provide and maintain high standards of professionalism and excellent customer service to all program participants and program visitors.
- Communicate effectively with peers, supervisors and the public.
- Maintain a positive attitude when given feedback.
- Interact with the public so as to represent the City of Lacey in a professional and businesslike manner.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Previous experience assisting with or coordinating events is desirable.
- Must maintain a level of physical and mental fitness necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Must pass a thorough background investigation.
- Must have a valid Washington State driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the City and the City’s insurance carrier.
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification within six (6) months of hire.
- Verification of identity and United States work authorization must be completed as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act.

- Greeting the public and explaining all program information readily and thoroughly.
- Portraying an image of knowledge, confidence, professionalism, fairness, and caring.
- Dressing appropriately and clean, as a result the City and Parks, Culture and Recreation profession are portrayed in a positive, service related manner.
- Organize items, materials, & time.
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs:
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook - Carry and lift 30 lbs.
- Project Enthusiasm.
- Express ideas clearly.
- Develop favorable relationships with other staff, parents, performers, and community.
- Respond appropriately to an emergency.
- Follow oral and written instructions.
- Work in a team setting with variable support roles.
