Event Manager / Planner, Event Staff/ Venue Crew
Reporting to the Recreation Coordinator, the Special Events Recreation Aide III will assist the Special Event Staff in providing technical support to performers and presentations at Huntamer Park and other parks as scheduled for summer entertainment series, including concerts, shows, movies, community festivals such as the Lacey Cultural Celebration, Lacey Spring Fun Fair, July 3rd Fireworks Spectacular, Summer Entertainment Series, Children’s Day, Breakfast with Santa, and Lacey Holiday Lights.
The main focus of this position is to assist with set up, decorating, crowd management, leading event activities, vendor assistance, customer service to the public, performers, and vendors, and tear down and clean up after events. In addition, the aide may assist with the distribution of event promotional materials and securing donations for events where applicable.
This part‑time position requires working evenings and weekends in addition to some flexible weekday hours as needed. The position will work up to 20 hours per week, depending on the event schedule, from June 22, 2026 to August 14, 2026. Visit (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). for upcoming event dates.
Responsibilities- Set up and tear down event equipment, including tents, tables, signage, and other items.
- Decorate for select events.
- Maintain inventories of supplies and equipment in an orderly fashion.
- Ensure a safe environment in the park for audiences, performers, staff, and citizens.
- Assist with the maintenance and operation of equipment, protecting city equipment and supplies from pilferage, loss, theft, weather, or abuse.
- Recruit, communicate, organize, and follow up with vendors for select events.
- Promote events through distribution of flyers, posters, and other promotional materials to businesses in the community.
- Comply with City of Lacey safety standards and procedures.
- Provide and maintain high standards of professionalism and excellent customer service to all program participants and visitors.
- Communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and the public.
- Maintain a positive attitude when given feedback.
- Represent the City of Lacey in a professional and businesslike manner.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Previous experience assisting with or coordinating events is desirable.
- Must maintain a level of physical and mental fitness necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Must pass a thorough background investigation.
- Must have a valid Washington State driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Must possess or obtain CPR/First Aid certification within six months of hire.
- Verification of identity and United States work authorization must be completed as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act.

- Experience with Microsoft Office programs:
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. - Carry and lift 30 lbs.

- Respond appropriately to an emergency.
- Follow oral and written instructions.
- Work in a team setting with variable support roles.
