Commercial Loan Officer II – Overview
The Commercial Loan Officer will provide prompt, knowledgeable, exceptional service to commercial loan customers. The role involves monitoring and maintaining a commercial real estate loan portfolio, which includes construction, interim, and permanent mortgages. Responsibilities include receiving loan applications, ordering documentation, analyzing and submitting for decision, and partnering with Business Bankers to present full banking relationship options.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Weekly meetings with the Business/Commercial team to discuss pipeline, prospects, and coordinate closing, documentation, and servicing needs.
- Advise individuals on Oly Fed lending programs and quote loan interest rates and fees.
- Provide appropriate application forms and disclosures and assist customers with completion.
- Request confidential financial and ECOA information from loan applicants, complying with state and federal lending regulations and Association loan policies.
- Facilitate loan applications by performing financial analysis, credit presentation, and approval for Commercial Real Estate and Small Business loans.
- Analyze, evaluate, and prepare tax analysis cash flow reports for commercial loans and non-owner-occupied loan guarantors exceeding aggregate loan balance limits.
- Monitor loan portfolio to ensure conformity with terms, identify trends, potential problems, and ensure loans are risk-rated properly. Communicate with senior leaders as necessary.
- Prepare initial loan modifications for servicing and input data for HMDA/LARS report maintenance.
- Carry out Association business plan objectives.
- Cross-sell Association products and services.
- Actively network and promote products at community and Oly Fed-sponsored events to facilitate growth, which may occasionally occur outside normal working hours.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent public and customer relations skills to effectively communicate with internal and external customers, determine their needs, and maintain their confidence.
- Thorough understanding of banking regulations and Association policies and procedures, with demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies and regulations quickly.
- Organizational flexibility to prioritize workload in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment.
- Analytical techniques and independent judgment to identify strategies to solve complex customer needs.
- Ability to analyze complex financial documents, including tax returns and financial statements.
- Understanding of financial analysis systems and document preparation.
- Exercise customer confidentiality and discretionary judgment.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain complex banking, lending, and legal regulations and documents.
- Proficiency in basic computer programs with the ability to learn new software.
- Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding). Perform basic calculations.
- Keep abreast of changing business and economic developments and real estate submarkets.
- Travel to other Oly Fed branches and community events.
- Experience in lending practices including loan documentation, perfection of security interest, lines of credit, financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, and regulatory compliance.
- Five years’ experience in lending with proven ability to achieve production goals.
- Active participation in community affairs, service clubs, and CRA activities is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and training in a related field is preferred.
- Must be bondable.
Duties are performed in a standard office setting. This includes operating standard office equipment such as a personal computer, keyboard, and 10-key calculator. The role requires a standard shift with repetitive wrist and hand movements. Must be able to talk and hear, stand or sit for extended periods, occasionally lift or carry items up to 15 lbs., and concentrate on tasks in distracting environments.
