This position is required to work in the office five days per week and is not eligible for telework.

The Cashiering and Fees Unit is part of the Fiscal Office, which, together with the Budget Office, forms the Financial Services Division (FSD). The FSD is one of six administrative divisions supporting the agency. Its core work is managing financial resources and supporting planning efforts so the agency can achieve its environmental goals and strategic priorities. In this role, you will help ensure Ecology’s financial information is reliable and trusted by agency leadership, the Governor, the State Auditor, the Office of Financial Management, and the Legislature—supporting informed decisions that protect Washington’s environment.
WhatYou Will Do
- Understand and effectively use statewide and agency-unique computer applications appropriate to position duties, including, but not limited to:
Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS), Ecology eHub System, Enterprise Reporting and WebI, and Treasury Management System (TM$). - Enters payments received in applicable systems and transmits deposits to State Treasurer.
- Use standard computer applications to create, maintain and print documents, access web information, public folders, e-mail and schedule time/meetings to complete all daily work.
- Retrieves payments from lobby drop box prior to close of business day.
- Meets customers at main reception and prepares receipt for in-person payment upon request.
- Review, approve, and enter journal vouchers

Required QualificationsSix (6) years of experience and/or education related to the duties of the position, which includes the following:

- Customer Service & Relationship Building – Be respectful and helpful with others to support positive customer interactions and strong working relationships.
- Organizing & Prioritizing Work – Ability to manage daily tasks, adjust to changing priorities, and meet deadlines consistently.
- Adapting to New Tools & Processes – Demonstrated ability to learn new systems, technologies, and workflows and apply them effectively.
- Journal Voucher Management – Ability to review, approve, and enter journal vouchers to ensure financial transactions are coded and recorded correctly.
- Financial Reconciliation – Proven ability to compare records, receipts, and system data to confirm accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Financial Reporting & Data Review – Ability to run, review, and interpret financial reports to support accurate revenue tracking and agency reporting needs.
- Financial Systems Use – Demonstrated ability to utilize statewide and agency financial systems (such as AFRS, eHub, Enterprise Reporting, WebI, and TM$) to enter data, run reports, and complete financial tasks.
- Microsoft Office & Digital Tools – Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, MS Teams, and similar tools to complete daily work and communicate effectively.
- Accuracy and Problem Solving – Input financial information with a high level of accuracy to ensure dependable records and reporting, spot errors, and resolve issues using sound judgment.
