Under general direction of a Public Works (PW) Maintenance Supervisor, the Senior Electrical Maintenance Technician performs fully skilled journey-level repairs, maintenance, inspection, installations, and construction work as well as maintenance management work in the office as assigned. The primary purpose of this position is to install, operate, and maintain automated traffic signals and street lighting. It also provides direct support to water, wastewater, facilities, and other activities within the city.
This position is responsible for duties which include, but are not limited to, plan review and construction inspections; training, leading and directing work relating to a variety of maintenance projects; providing on-site supervision on significant projects; maintaining system maps, as well as the inter-local work agreements with our local partners; small projects and advising on general construction issues; working as a member of the crew and participating as a fully skilled journey-level in the maintenance, repair and installation of related facilities and systems.
Assist senior staff and/or crews performing a variety of maintenance or administrative projects.

The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain the City's signal and electrical systems.
Supervision & Leadership- Prioritizes, and schedules daily work, schedules equipment and personnel, assigns work, requisitions materials needed to complete projects, and frequently participates as a working member of the crew.
- Plans and assigns other crews and employees to projects or maintenance work.
- Maintains high standards of behavior and performance.
- Provides leadership to other maintenance employees through positive relationships, demonstrated knowledge and adherence to safety and work rules.
- Ensures that employees are meeting project schedules and are performing work assignments in an efficient and safe manner.
- Assures crews and employees regularly perform at high levels that meet the City's standards for technical skills, interpersonal behaviors, and customer contacts.
- Monitors day-to-day operations; anticipates, and troubleshoots problems where needed, assures staff respond quickly and appropriately to citizen inquiries, requests for services, and/or complaints. Investigates and resolves complex or significant problems relating to trouble calls and complaints.
- Assures a safe working environment by enforcing appropriate safety regulations and implementing necessary employee orientation, training, and workplace operating policies and procedures.
- Performs administrative functions as assigned; including inventory, operational reports, record-keeping and statistics, policy research and development, budget monitoring and research for budget preparation, special projects, employee training, performance evaluation, and assistance with recruitment and selection.
- Assists Maintenance Supervisor with the development of goals, priorities, and the work program for the Division.
- Regularly takes initiative in recommending changes in work methods, policies, and procedures to improve levels of service delivery and improve overall operating efficiencies.
- Responds quickly and appropriately to citizen and customer inquiries, requests for services, and/or complaints. Investigates and resolves complex or significant problems relating to problematic calls and complaints. Communicates with supervisor on complex or significant issues.
- As needed for emergencies, absences, or operational needs, works in the field performing maintenance, repair and/or installations of related facilities or systems.
- Perceives when non-routine activities are required and offers to help without needing to be asked. Modifies workload to assist with an emergent problem, assignment, or project whenever feasible.
