Saint Martin’s University invites applications for the position of Vice President of Business and Chief Financial Officer (VPB/CFO). Reporting directly to the President and serving as a member of the Executive Cabinet, the VPB/CFO provides leadership for the University’s financial and administrative operations while advancing the institution’s strategic priorities.

The VPB/CFO is responsible for the University’s ongoing business, budgeting, financial reporting, and analysis functions and provides direct leadership and supervision of Student Financial Services, Business Office, Payroll, Facilities, Investments, Purchasing, Bookstore, and Integrated Technology. The role includes oversight of contractual agreements, leadership of the annual budgeting and audit processes, and service as staff liaison to the Finance, Audit, and Investment Committees of the Board of Trustees.

As a hands-on leader and strategic partner, the VPB/CFO collaborates closely with the President, Provost, and campus leadership to ensure financial sustainability, operational excellence, and mission alignment. This position plays a key role in developing innovative funding mechanisms to support faculty and staff development, competitive compensation, new academic and co-curricular programs, and the expansion of non-traditional revenue sources—while ensuring the efficient and cost-effective delivery of services.

The VPB/CFO provides leadership for the University’s financial and administrative operations and oversees: budgeting, financial reporting and analysis; and supervision of areas including Student Financial Services, Business Office, Payroll, Facilities, Investments, Purchasing, Bookstore, and Integrated Technology. The role includes oversight of contractual agreements, leadership of the annual budgeting and audit processes, and service as staff liaison to the Finance, Audit, and Investment Committees of the Board of Trustees.

The position collaborates with the President, Provost, and campus leadership to ensure financial sustainability, operational excellence, and mission alignment; develops funding mechanisms to support faculty and staff development, competitive compensation, new programs, and non-traditional revenue sources while ensuring efficient delivery of services.

• Master’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related discipline from an accredited institution
• CPA or CMA preferred
• Demonstrated experience with budgeting and financial planning in resource-constrained environments
• Proven ability to supervise staff and build effective, collaborative teams
• Knowledge of the Catholic Intellectual Tradition, including Ex corde Ecclesiae and Catholic social teaching (practicing Roman Catholic preferred)
• Higher education or non-profit experience preferred
• Successful completion of a background check

Salary/Compensation: $180,000 - $200,000 per year
