As a Biologist
- Omics, you will perform the following duties:

• Apply laboratory and data analysis techniques to improve the effectiveness of fishery management and conservation of anadromous and marine organisms. Contribute substantively to molecular genetic and genomic work for fisheries management including environmental DNA (eDNA).
• Develop, refine, and utilize molecular techniques to investigate various marine and anadromous species. Use statistics and computational approaches to assess data and results that influence management of marine and anadromous taxa.
• Manage sample collection and curation, equipment maintenance, data generation, and assist with purchasing, inventory and training new employees.
• Participate in laboratory sample processing, field work, data analysis and statistical modeling projects as needed. Continue development of robust data management planning and execution to meet all requirements of the Public Access to Research Results (PARR) Act.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• This position requires the operation of a Federal motor vehicle. Incumbent must possess a valid driver's license to use federal motor vehicles to attend meetings with partners/stakeholders, and to visit research sites on a regular and recurring basis.

This position will be filled under the DOC Alternative Personnel System (CAPS). This system replaced the Federal GS pay plan and structure. Under CAPS, positions are classified by career, pay plan, and pay band. The ZP-3 is equivalent to the GS-11/12.
