Design Services Section Chief

Department:
Bureau of Highway Design, State of New Hampshire Department of Transportation.

$37.22 per hour - $51.07 per hour. Trainee Status $35.62 per hour (within one year of hire date).

• Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution or Bachelor’s degree in engineering with MBA or Associate’s degree in engineering or engineering technology.
• Professional Engineer licensure in New Hampshire or another state with licensure in NH within one year.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
• Experience:
  
  Three years civil engineering post licensure (or 5 years with Bachelor’s; 7 years with Associate’s).

• Licensed Professional Engineer in State of New Hampshire or obtain NH license within one year.
• Valid driver's license and MVR meets agency standards.

All accountabilities must be performed in accordance with state and department rules, including risk management, safety, environmental standards, regulations and administrative orders.

Eligible candidates with 8+ years education/experience may be considered and hired in trainee status.

Must possess a New Hampshire Professional Engineer license within 12 months of hire.

• Monitor overall project work schedule within the Design Services Section.
• Schedule activities to meet department program goals.
• Represent Bureau in project management functions, presenting and receiving information.
• Certify to FHA that all necessary engineering and permits have been completed for Federal aid projects.
• Develop alternative engineering solutions with others to solve problems.
• Represent Bureau at public meetings, conferences, hearings.
• Coordinate overall work to assure a team approach for department objectives.
• Administer agreements with consulting engineering firms, authorize payments, negotiate fees.
• Advise Commissioners and Directors through committee work on policies and programs.
• Seal and sign design documents per department policies.
