Job Summary
A Registered Nurse (RN) II will provide comprehensive nursing care for a group of population‑specific patients in an inpatient specialty unit. The RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care from simple to complex, with multi‑system concerns, in a safe and therapeutic environment. The RN uses knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan, interprets patient data, collaborates with health‑care teams, and exercises sound judgment to perform nursing and medical interventions.
The RN reports to the Director and/or Nurse Manager and may supervise Licensed Nursing Assistants and unlicensed personnel.
- Provides direct patient care.
- Bases nursing actions on purposeful, organized thinking to make clinical judgments.
- Gathers data through history taking and physical assessment and interprets the data to plan and implement interventions that meet patient care needs.
- Develops, evaluates, and revises patient’s plan of care and nursing actions in response to changing needs.
- Documents care provided and patient’s progress toward desired outcomes.
- Directs and supervises others in delegated nursing activities.
- Teaches patients and/or significant others about the plan of care.
- Prepares patients to manage their care after discharge, transfer, or prior to procedures/tests.
- Manages time and resources to deliver patient care efficiently.
- Administers medications to patients.
One year of prior clinical nursing experience. Evidence of working effectively and positively with patients, care providers, and the multidisciplinary team, and ability to serve as a member of a team. Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
Certifications and Licensure- Registered Nurse – New Hampshire Board of Nursing
- Basic Life Support – American Heart Association
- Material handling classification: MEDIUM – Regularly lift, carry, or push/pull up to 10 pounds; frequently up to 25 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Requires fine‑motor skill, hearing, speaking, walking; regular bending, reaching, sitting, squatting, standing; occasional climbing, repetitive motion, kneeling, smelling.
- Vision: color vision, depth perception, far/near vision, peripheral vision.
- Exposure to airborne pathogens, blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids, airborne contaminants, chemotherapeutic agents, electrical hazards, moving mechanical parts, non‑weather related heat or cold, slippery surfaces, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Typical noise level is moderate.
