Grafton County Department of Corrections is seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse to serve as our Medical Coordinator
. This leadership position is responsible for the overall administration, supervision, and coordination of nursing and medical services within the correctional facility.

The Medical Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services to inmates while maintaining compliance with professional nursing standards, Department of Corrections policies, and applicable state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direct supervision of nursing and medical services.
  • Ensure quality inmate healthcare and compliance with physician orders, nursing standards, and correctional healthcare requirements.
  • Supervise, schedule, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff.
  • Review inmate medical records, intake assessments, watch records, and treatment plans.
  • Coordinate responses to medical, mental health, and substance use concerns.
  • Assist with budget planning and recommendations for medical equipment and capital expenditures.
  • Participate in management, safety, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication systems, reports, and documentation.
  • Assist with staff training and professional development.
  • Maintain awareness of current trends and best practices in correctional healthcare.
  • Provide direct patient care as needed, including medication administration, blood draws, and shift coverage.
  • Advises the Superintendent and functions as a member of the command leadership team.
Qualifications Required
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New Hampshire.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related healthcare field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seven to ten years of progressively responsible nursing experience.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of triage principles, substance use disorders, detoxification practices, communicable diseases, and mental health issues.
Preferred
  • ICU, Emergency Room, and Psych nursing experience.
