Overview
The Fitch unit is a 45 bed, Acute Care Medical Unit with approximately 120 employees. The average patient census is 40 patients, with specialties focusing on sepsis, respiratory, diabetes, GI, oncology, end of life, and some surgical. The unit provides an outstanding supportive environment and advanced training for staff, including a relaxation room for employees to decompress and relieve stress. The nursing staff is supported by a charge RN and team lead, focused on making the unit the best place to give and receive care.

About The Job
The Resource Nurse directly oversees and serves as an immediate, first line clinical resource to staff on the Fitch Unit. The RRN demonstrates well developed clinical competencies appropriate to the floor when providing direct patient care or guiding staff. The position functions as an integral member of the Fitch management team and ensures efficient operations of the unit on assigned shifts.
The RRN adheres to the values under the EHS Professional Practice Model which guide all dimensions of practice.
- Participates in professional enhancement activities including hospital-wide committees, health system initiatives, development of education materials, and professional association activities
- Provides support and leadership to the Fitch team in developing integrated approaches to care, including assisting staff with the provision of care to assigned patients and assuming a partial patient assignment
- Works in partnership with and serves as a resource to the medical staff for relevant clinical issues
- Collaborates and supports the Clinical Nurse Manager
- Teams up with the Clinical Nurse Manager to effectively control costs through innovative and economical utilization of personnel, materials and equipment
- Supports the department’s Shared Governance structure and is accountable for quality improvement outcomes
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. ASN required with active enrollment in a BSN program (signed BSN commitment form needed). BSN preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years of current experience in an acute care setting required. Must be at a clinical level that reflects proficiency and in-depth knowledge of nursing practice.
- License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of New Hampshire required or must hold a Compact Nursing License
- Life support authorization (BLS) appropriate to patient population required
- Specialty certification required within six (6) months of eligibility
