Job Summary
Under the direction of the Administrative Director, the Nursing Supervisor (Registered Nurse) is responsible for daily supervision and coordination of operations for the hospital and patient care areas. The Supervisor responds to clinical and organizational emergency situations and supports the delivery of quality patient care and professional nursing practice.
Education & Licensure- Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited college or university preferred, or commensurate education and experience.
- Current license to practice nursing in the state of New Hampshire.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification.
- ACLS and PALS or equivalent courses credentialed by the American Heart Association.
- MOAB certification required within 1 year.
- Minimum of 3 years of acute care clinical experience.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Serve as a leader and resource for staff, patients, and families; provide support, guidance, and feedback.
- Coach and direct staff in clinical decision‑making.
- Demonstrate cost‑effective staffing and resource allocation.
- Serve as on‑site leadership during evenings, nights, and weekends, with access to an Administrator On‑Call.
- Develop and implement staffing plans based on patient needs.
- Coordinate bed management and patient flow to optimize hospital capacity.
- Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and nursing philosophy.
- Respond to emergency situations such as Rapid Response, Stroke Alerts, and Trauma.
- Serve as a clinical resource, assisting with patient care as needed.
- Guide nursing care using critical thinking to promote quality outcomes.
- Act as Incident Command in emergencies until relieved.
- Anticipate and prioritize potential problems on shift and act as a resource in solving administrative and clinical challenges.
- Contact appropriate departments or personnel for assistance when needed.
- Maintain composure while handling patient, family, and staff concerns.
- Serve as a conduit for department and organizational communication.
- Document and communicate incidents to management in a timely fashion.
- Manage service recovery for patient and family concerns.
- Support and implement organizational change initiatives.
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Facilitate sharing of information, especially on off‑shifts, to keep staff informed and management aware of feedback.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and nursing standards.
- Participate in hospital‑wide initiatives to improve patient care and operations.
