Job Overview:Quality Department Failure Analysis Engineer for the Sprinter Production in Charleston. Role is to lead cross-functional teams with problem solving of complex product related defects in the plant. Responsibilities includes performing root cause analysis & coordination of activities for analysis of vehicles, sub-assemblies, and parts. Lead and coordinate Q-Release projects for the Quality department. Plan and manage project budgets. Lead, conduct, and/or support with Q-Release and Connectivity testing
Key Duties and Responsibilities- Lead failure analysis with cross-functional teams to resolve complex Quality issues
- Support as needed for development of countermeasures to resolve Quality issues
- Compile and agree on measurement methods for local and international counterparts
- Documentation of data and analysis in accordance to audit compliance (ISO 9001/IATF
16949/VDA) - Present results of analysis to senior management
- Benchmark and collaborate on standards and topics with counterparts at sister plants in Europe
- Lead specific cross functional project as requested by Senior management
- Complete administrative tasks and duties in a timely manner
- Hire and mentor resource
- Track and maintain department/team budgets
- Coordinate and/or manage trainings and programs
- Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or similar, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field plus 5+ years of Failure Analysis experience.
- Knowledge of failure analysis and defect remedy processes
- Knowledge of 8D Problem Solving methodology
- Familiar with the equipment used in the measurement house such as the Zeiss CMM’s, Faro Arms, Leica laser tracker and Creaform scanners
- Knowledge of Measurement System Analysis (GD&T, GR&R, capability study)
- Knowledge of Body in White (including in line measurements) and Assembly process (automotive)
- Knowledge of CAD systems (Engineering Clients, NX-Siemens)
- Knowledge of Measurement software (Polyworks, CALIGO)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- German and/or Spanish language knowledge is a plus
