Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse I provides individualized, goal‑directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results. Responsibilities include providing quality nursing care while maintaining accountability for the coordination of patient care, directing and leading other assigned team members, collaborating with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards of care and practice, and providing patient‑ and family‑centered care using the nursing process.

The RN also timely manages in‑basket patient messages, triages, responds, and coordinates care needs with providers and the care team to ensure safe, efficient, and patient‑centered communication. The RN maintains a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment by ensuring patient privacy and responsive, respectful, accepting, and professional behavior, participates in shared governance, peer review and professional development, and applies care management principles to identify clinical priorities and initiate action to improve patient outcomes.

Required Minimum Training and

Education:

Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or Nursing License Compact; strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Current South Carolina RN License or multi‑state Nursing License Compact and BLS required;
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required;
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required.

Physical Requirements: Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting; ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions; ability to be qualified physically for respirator use; maintain 20/40 vision corrected; frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force;

work in a latex‑safe environment and indoors.
