Electrician
This role performs the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems on construction projects while upholding high standards of safety, quality, and customer service. Depending on experience, you may lead crews as a foreman, coordinating work on complex electrical installations and mentoring apprentices in the field.
Responsibilities- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), building construction methods, and permit requirements.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan and execute electrical installations accurately.
- Install, bend, and secure conduit; pull, route, and terminate wiring to support a wide range of electrical systems.
- Perform construction-related electrical work, including layout, rough-in, and finish tasks, ensuring work meets quality and safety standards.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical issues by using systematic troubleshooting techniques and sound technical judgment.
- Follow all safety procedures and best practices, proactively identify potential hazards, and communicate unsafe conditions to protect yourself and others.
- Collaborate with project teams, customers, suppliers, and vendors to coordinate work, resolve issues, and maintain strong working relationships.
- Prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing conditions or emergencies to keep projects on schedule.
- Travel regionally to project sites as needed and represent the company in a professional and respectful manner.
- Maintain organized work areas, tools, and materials to support efficient and high-quality project execution.
- Train, mentor, and coach apprentices by providing clear guidance, constructive feedback, and hands-on instruction in a respectful and supportive manner.
- Communicate clearly with coworkers and leadership regarding project status, issues, and resource needs.
- For foreman-level roles: lead and supervise crews in the installation of complex electrical systems, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to specification.
- For foreman-level roles: assign tasks, monitor progress, and provide direction to electricians and apprentices in the field.
- For foreman-level roles: coordinate with other trades and project stakeholders to sequence work and avoid conflicts on site.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Completion of an electrical apprenticeship or equivalent work experience totaling approximately 8,000 hours.
- Knowledge of building construction methods and how electrical systems integrate into construction projects.
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and related permit requirements.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety procedures and a demonstrated commitment to safe work practices.
- Ability to travel regionally to project sites as needed.
- Proficiency with conduit installation, including measuring, cutting, and bending conduit.
- Experience pulling and routing wire for a variety of electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
- Hands-on experience with electrical construction, troubleshooting, and installation tasks.
- Effective communication skills to interact with customers, suppliers, vendors, and coworkers.
- Strong prioritization, risk assessment, and multi-tasking abilities to manage changing jobsite conditions.
- Technical and mechanical aptitude to diagnose issues and perform work efficiently and to quality standards.
- Demonstrated commitment to identifying, flagging, and communicating potential risks and unsafe conditions.
- For foreman-level roles: previous electrician experience with complex electrical system installations.
- For foreman-level roles: at least 3 years of supervisory experience leading electrical crews.
