Electrical Foreman
This role is for an experienced Electrical Foreman who leads crews of 6–8 electricians, and up to 10 when needed, while actively working on the tools. You will oversee industrial and commercial electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs, ensuring all work meets safety codes and quality standards. The position requires you to provide your own tools and to balance hands-on electrical work with supervising and guiding the crew in the field.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise electrical crews of 6–8 people, and up to 10 at one time, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans and codes.
- Work as a hands-on foreman, performing electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs while providing direction and support to the team.
- Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair industrial and commercial electrical systems, including high-voltage wiring and low-voltage control systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams to plan and execute wiring, conduit runs, and equipment installations accurately.
- Perform detailed electrical diagnostics using tools such as ohmmeters, multimeters, and other testing equipment to identify faults, inefficiencies, and safety issues within electrical circuits.
- Conduct routine maintenance on electrical equipment and systems to ensure reliable operation and compliance with NFPA 70 and NEC standards as well as local electrical codes.
- Install, program, and test programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to support and automate industrial processes effectively.
- Lay out, bend, and install conduit; pull wire; and complete wiring terminations in accordance with project specifications and industry best practices.
- Follow all electrical safety procedures during installation, troubleshooting, and repair activities to minimize hazards and protect the crew and surrounding personnel.
- Collaborate closely with construction teams on renovation and new build projects to ensure electrical work aligns with blueprints, schematics, schedules, and other trades' activities.
- Maintain organized work areas, manage materials and tools efficiently, and ensure that all equipment is used and stored safely.
- Support broader project needs where appropriate, including basic frame carpentry or handyman tasks, to help keep projects on schedule.
- Document work performed, communicate progress and issues clearly, and assist in resolving technical challenges on site.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of experience as an Electrical Foreman or in a similar leadership role, leading crews of 6–8 electricians and up to 10 when required.
- Proven experience as an industrial or commercial electrician with a strong experience in electrical systems installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Extensive knowledge of NFPA 70 electrical safety requirements, NEC standards, and applicable local electrical codes.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams for industrial and commercial electrical systems.
- Hands-on experience working with high-voltage electrical wiring and low-voltage control systems in industrial and commercial environments.
- Strong skills in conduit installation, including conduit bending, running conduit, and pulling wire for various applications.
- Ability to perform accurate electrical diagnostics using ohmmeters, multimeters, and other testing equipment.
- Skilled in using common electrical hand tools such as wire strippers, pliers, screwdrivers, and power tools safely and effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems efficiently and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Solid understanding and consistent application of electrical safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and the crew.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working on construction sites or renovation projects, coordinating electrical work with other trades.
