JOB DESCRIPTION

INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT TEACHER

DEFINITION:
Under the direction of the Director of Special Services, provides instruction to special education students individually and/or general classroom setting.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

* Provides direct instructional support to students with special needs, individually and/or general classroom setting.

* Provides consultation to staff and parents of special needs students.

* Conducts assessments, develops IEPs and participates in IEP meetings.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

* District standards and benchmarks.

* District core curriculum.

* Special education regulations.

* A variety of instructional strategies appropriate for different disability types.

* Successful collaboration and co-teaching strategies.

Ability to:

* Provide special education assessments.

* Write legally compliant and educationally meaningful assessment reports.

* Work in a collaborative relationship with parents, and general and special education staff members.

* Develop and implement a functional behavior plan.

* Provide staff development.

Education:

Appropriate California teaching credential.

Valid California Mild to Moderate Support Needs (MMSN) Education Specialist Credential Autism and Bridge Authorization ELL Authorization/CLAD
