Position Summary

The Psychiatrist at Imagine! plays a critical role in providing comprehensive mental health care to Imagine’s IDD population. This position involves diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of psychiatric disorders through evidence-based medical and therapeutic interventions. The Psychiatrist will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized treatment plans that promote mental wellness, recovery, and improved quality of life. Imagine!

Mental Health Services accepts Medicare and Medicaid; we are a not-for-profit agency. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical expertise, compassionate patient care, and a commitment to advancing mental health services within a supportive and innovative environment.

Time Commitment

4-5 Days per month for appointments.

6-10 hours per week total

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments to diagnose mental health conditions.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans, including medication management and psychotherapy.
  • Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic care.
  • Provide crisis intervention and emergency psychiatric care as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient histories, treatment plans, and progress notes in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and continuous professional development activities.
  • Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
  • Ensure adherence to ethical standards and confidentiality in all patient interactions.
  • Contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives within Imagine! to enhance mental health services.
  • Stay current with advances in psychiatric research, treatments, and best practices to provide state-of-the-art care.

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:

  • Ability to work independently.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with individuals and groups at all professional levels.
  • Effective and creative negotiator and problem solver.
  • Exceptional organization and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in Electronic Health Records; utilizing electronic medication ordering.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus

Training/

Education:

  • Graduate Degree from an accredited University
  • Must possess an active Colorado license to practice psychiatry and prescribe appropriate medication.
  • Must hold one of the following Colorado licenses:
    Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Medical Doctor specializing in Psychiatry.

Experience:

  • Must have at least 6-10 years of clinical experience
  • Prefer experience with the IDD community
  • Must have experience with Medicaid billing

Working Environment/Physical

Activities:

  • Ability to complete electronic documentation within State and Federal guidelines
  • Typical office environment with standard working hours to see patients.
  • May require prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
