We are seeking a hands-on Billing Manager to lead daily billing operations, provide workforce planning, and bring structure to a busy healthcare revenue cycle team.
This Billing Manager role is ideal for a leader who excels at prioritization, delegation, and execution. The Billing Manager will oversee a team of five Billing Specialists, ensuring work is properly distributed, issues are addressed quickly, and claims move efficiently through the revenue cycle.
This is a highly visible leadership role focused on getting work done, improving processes, and helping the team grow.
Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Workforce PlanningSupervise and support a team of 5 Billing Specialists
Assess workload volume, priorities, and team capacity
Delegate work effectively to ensure timely completion of billing activities
Provide clear, direct, and constructive feedback to support team development
Step in proactively when issues arise and implement solutions quickly
Foster accountability while maintaining a supportive, collaborative environment
Oversee full-cycle claims management from submission through payment and appeals
Monitor claims status and ensure timely follow-up on unpaid or denied claims
Lead Accounts Receivable (A/R) management efforts to improve collections performance
Support billing staff with complex claims resolution and escalation management
Ensure compliance with payer requirements, coding standards, and billing regulations
Produce operational and performance reports for internal departments and leadership
Partner with clearinghouses and vendors to resolve transmission or workflow issues
Evaluate billing workflows and implement efficiency improvements
Collaborate cross-functionally with clinical, operational, and finance teams
Help standardize processes and improve overall revenue cycle performance
Work closely with clearinghouses and external vendors
Troubleshoot billing system or claim submission issues
Support ongoing optimization of billing systems and workflows
Proven supervisory experience within healthcare medical billing
Strong understanding of insurance billing, claims lifecycle, and reimbursement processes
Demonstrated experience managing A/R performance and denial follow-up
Experience with medical billing software;
Next Gen strongly preferredKnowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding
Experience working in an FQHC environment preferred
Ability to balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on operational involvement
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands
A proactive Medical Billing Manager who notices problems and addresses them quickly
