Job Overview

AMS Industrial is seeking an experienced Operations Director to provide senior-level leadership across multiple industrial construction projects nationwide. This role is ideal for a seasoned construction professional who has personally led numerous $1M–$20M industrial or heavy civil projects and is ready to expand their impact beyond individual project execution into broader operational leadership.

The Operations Director will oversee project performance, mentor project management teams, support strategic growth initiatives, and help drive consistency, profitability, and operational excellence across AMS’s expanding portfolio of work.

Who We Are

AMS Industrial is a prime contractor specializing in industrial construction with heavy mechanical and civil scopes, positioned for significant growth over the next decade. Our core work includes dams and waterways projects featuring heavy mechanical systems such as dam gates, bulkheads/stoplogs, piping, and valves—both inside powerhouses and across exterior dam structures.

AMS’s leadership team includes Scott Lynn, Chairman, a widely respected construction executive who has successfully scaled multiple contractors from tens of millions to hundreds of millions in annual revenue. Under this leadership, AMS is focused on high-margin, low-competition remote federal projects, primarily with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Bureau of Reclamation, while expanding into strategic areas such as electrical undergrounding and fuel piping.

With strong capitalization and a competitive bonding advantage, AMS offers a rare opportunity to help shape the future of a growing industrial contractor.

Key Responsibilities

Provide operational oversight for multiple industrial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.

Support and mentor Project Managers and field leadership to ensure consistent execution, communication, and accountability.

Oversee project financial performance, including budgets, forecasts, cost controls, and profitability.

Partner with project teams to proactively identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and resolve execution challenges.

Ensure compliance with contract requirements, federal project standards, and AMS operational policies.

Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic planning, resource allocation, and growth initiatives.

Support pursuit strategies, project transitions, and operational readiness for new awards.

Maintain strong engagement with job sites, fostering teamwork and alignment between office and field operations.

Travel regularly to AMS Industrial project sites across the contiguous United States.

Qualifications

10+ years of experience in construction project management or operations, ideally within industrial, heavy civil, or heavy mechanical construction.

Proven track record personally managing multiple projects in the $1M–$20M range with successful financial outcomes.

Strong operational, analytical, and leadership capabilities with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented leadership style.

Experience or exposure to federal construction projects (USACE, Bureau of Reclamation, DOE, etc.) is strongly preferred.
