Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Outpatient Medical Oncology Infusion Clinic at Good Samaritan Hospital provides and coordinates patient care using the nursing process. The RN delivers safe, evidence‑based care through therapeutic interventions, technology, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team to support patients throughout their treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive, patient‑centered care by assessing physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs and partnering closely with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team throughout their treatment journey.
  • Use critical thinking and clinical expertise to develop individualized plans of care, incorporating patient education, symptom management, and preparation for ongoing support beyond the clinic setting.
  • Collaborate with oncologists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary partners to coordinate care, prioritize treatments, and ensure safe, timely infusion services in a fast‑paced outpatient setting.
  • Grow professionally in oncology nursing practice within a culture that values professionalism, mentorship, and continuous learning while upholding the highest legal, ethical, and regulatory standards of nursing practice.
  • Evaluate outcomes, adapt care plans as patient needs evolve, and contribute to an environment focused on quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, and clinical excellence.
Posting Specifics
  • Shift Details:
    Clinic is open Monday through Friday 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.
  • Preferred:
    Chemotherapy certification or prior chemotherapy experience.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice. Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment.
  • RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of their hire date.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
  • Oncology or radiation experience.
  • BSN is required as of the job description's last update on 4/27/2025. Employees hired or promoted prior to this date will be held to the minimum requirements that were in place at the time of their promotion or hire.
Physical Requirements
  • Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require verbal communication and hearing/spoken information quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy, including frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, including bending to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights up to and including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment, including pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, sometimes navigating crowded and busy rooms.
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
  • For roles requiring driving:
    Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

Good Samaritan Hospital, Lafayette, Colorado

Schedule

Scheduled weekly hours: 20 hours per week.

Pay

Hourly range: $37.45 – $57.29. The actual hourly rate depends on experience.
