Panel Masters Inc. Lead Carpenter
Lafayette, CO 80026 • $32.00 – $38.00 per hour
• Full‑time
The Lead Carpenter will provide leadership, technical guidance, and quality oversight to a crew of carpenters and laborers on residential and commercial construction projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Physical capacity:
- Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling according to OSHA limits.
- Working at heights (scaffolds, ladders, powered lifts).
- Prolonged standing, squatting, walking, bending and repetitive motions.
- Operating in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, wind).
- Advanced skills and knowledge: operating power and hand tools safely; layout using transits, builder’s levels, lasers, chalk lines; building to layout; operating equipment such as skid steer, compactor, air compressor, forklift, boom lifts and scissor lifts.
- Able to teach and train crew: operating tools, interpreting shop drawings, layout techniques, construction of square, plumb and level walls.
- Coordinate crew function: schedule planning with Superintendent; communicate plans; assign tasks; model correct procedures; motivate crew; enforce PPE.
- Quality control/quality assurance: check or lay out as assigned; encourage craftsmanship; maintain tool and machine maintenance schedules.
- Communication and paperwork: bill communication to General Contractor through upper management; fluency in English and Spanish; fill out daily logs and timesheets when Superintendent absent.
- Driver’s license and good driving record; current first aid/CPR certification; ongoing safety and best‑practice education.
Tools required of all carpenters:
- Straight claw, smooth‑faced hammer; nail bar; 25’ & 100’ tape measures; side‑cutting pliers (rebar tying pliers); wire reel; framing square; tri‑square; 2’ hand level; screwdrivers; razor/utility knife; margin trowel; mag float; tool bags.
Typical work week:
Monday through Friday, with hours set by project requirements. Saturday make‑up days may be required if weather prevents regular days. Overtime over 40 hours per week is paid at 1.5 times the regular rate.
