Title: Maintenance Technician II
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm
Location: Facilities near Lafayette/Boulder, and Denver areas.
Pay: $22.95 to $28.69 per hour
TRU Community Care is looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician II to help keep our facilities safe, functional, and well‑maintained. This role serves as a lead maintenance technician by performing repairs and preventive maintenance across multiple skill areas, including general building maintenance, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, flooring, equipment repairs, and other facility needs.
The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for maintaining assigned facilities in good repair at all times, completing work orders and preventive maintenance tasks, and communicating with facility leadership regarding repairs, safety concerns, and potential operational disruptions. This position may also support emergency response needs, special events, and other maintenance‑related duties as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repairs in one or more skill areas, including mechanical equipment, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, plastering, flooring, electrical repairs, machine servicing, and general building maintenance.
- Complete routine facility tasks such as changing light bulbs, installing paper dispenser units, changing filters, changing locks, repairing furniture, maintaining nurse call systems, intercom systems, CCTV, railings, windows, wheelchairs, and other repairs that do not require a licensed tradesperson or journeyman.
- Utilize the computerized maintenance management system, TELS, to generate, complete, and close work orders and preventive maintenance tasks. Pull, prioritize, and schedule assigned work orders and PMs.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs for assigned facilities, including emergency generator checks, fire alarm system checks, water temperature checks, equipment lubrication and cleaning, call light checks, and ventilation filter cleaning or replacement.
- Keep maintenance shops, storage areas, tools, equipment, radios, inventory, and supplies organized and in good working condition.
- Identify and correct unsafe working conditions with management oversight and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Comply with all company safety and risk management policies, attend required trainings, participate in safety meetings, and report accidents or injuries in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance, wear TRU Community Care‑provided uniforms, and wear appropriate non‑slip work shoes or boots.
- Assist with mentoring and training lower‑level maintenance technicians and act as a temporary maintenance leader when needed.
- May be required to drive a cart or company vehicle, assist with special events, and use basic cleaning or maintenance chemicals.
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 5+ years of general maintenance experience required
- Journeyman‑level expertise or proficient knowledge in multiple maintenance trades
- Experience in painting, tile, drywall, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and appliance repair required
- Must be able to troubleshoot mechanical or electrical issues within areas of qualification
- Must have basic phone and computer skills, including email and texting
- Experience using computerized maintenance management systems preferred; TELS experience highly preferred
- Must be able to read blueprints and schematics
- Must be able to mentor and train lower‑level technicians
- Must enjoy and be able to work in a senior citizen environment
- Must have or be willing to obtain appropriate licenses or certifications required for specific work in the city and state where work is performed
- Valid driver’s license may be required
- Must successfully pass agency required background checks and drug screening
