A Day in the LifeAs a Software Manager at Medtronic, you will lead a high‑engagement engineering team, ensuring growth and success while building and managing software solutions for medical devices.
Responsibilities- Lead a team of engineers that design, develop, and verify software applications for medical devices, primarily desktop with support for mobile and web.
- Manage day‑to‑day technical activities: sprint backlog, assignment tracking, and deliverable monitoring.
- Analyze and solve complex problems requiring detailed information gathering and investigation.
- Partner with R&D, quality, regulatory, and marketing groups.
- Communicate with stakeholders about ongoing operations.
- Drive best software development practices and build sustainable processes.
- Coach and review team work.
- Oversee development and design requirements for software systems, including cloud or internet‑related tools.
- Ensure resources, continuous improvement, and process compliance.
- Manage scope, cost, and schedule within a cross‑functional team.
- Recruit, evaluate, and develop personnel for efficient operation.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of relevant software product development and 5+ years managing software development teams.
- Experience with languages such as C++, C#, JavaScript, Dart, Python, etc.
- Strong understanding of desktop software development, verification, and SDLC methodologies (Agile, Scrum, SAFe).
- Proven project management in a matrix reporting structure.
- Ability to blend people management with technical expertise.
- Experience mentoring and coaching engineers and testers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in medical device or regulated industry.
- Familiarity with IEC 62304 and ISO 14971 standards.
Leadership and supervisory roles with at least six direct reports, focusing on talent development, performance management, and strategic initiative execution.

Benefits & CompensationCompetitive salary range (U.S.): $150,400 – $225,600. Eligible for short‑term incentive plan.
