Starting Salary: $44,000+ per year based on experience

Role Overview: Teacher to join the award‑winning Alternative Education team, responsible for shaping student success for grades 9‑12 through the implementation of proven instructional strategies aligned with Chance Light Education methodologies and Ombudsman policies.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver impactful, engaging instruction using diverse curriculum materials and advanced educational software tools tailored to student needs.
  • Develop comprehensive daily lesson plans and structured classroom schedules that align with state guidelines and school requirements, ensuring clarity and consistency.
  • Collaborate closely with special education teachers and support staff to differentiate instruction and provide necessary accommodations.
  • Implement clear behavioral standards and classroom management practices to establish a structured, safe learning environment.
  • Communicate regularly and proactively with parents and guardians about student progress, challenges, achievements, and external factors influencing performance.
  • Participate actively in team meetings to address student needs, resolve concerns, and strengthen the educational support network.
  • Assess and track student progress consistently through classroom data collection and analysis to inform instructional practices and interventions.
  • Stay current with the latest research‑based educational practices and innovations to continually enhance instructional quality.
  • Respond constructively to formal and informal evaluations, fostering a commitment to professional development and growth.
  • Contribute to the broader educational community by performing additional responsibilities as assigned, supporting Ombudsman's mission and student success.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in education or a closely related field.
  • Licensed or in the process of obtaining a valid GA state teaching credential.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company‑approved crisis management training.
  • Prior experience with curriculum development, differentiation, and instruction; preferably in an alternative, special education, or behavioral health setting.
  • Experience or knowledge in alternative educational services and working with at‑risk students with diverse needs.
  • Prior experience teaching mathematics and/or English at the high school level.
  • Proven success in developing and implementing effective education plans for students with diverse needs.
  • Proficiency in motivating students and having critical conversations that help move them toward realistic goals.
  • Experience with students having individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in emergencies and make independent decisions.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, instruction, curriculum, conflict resolution, multitasking, and decision‑making skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant technology, including instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
