Summary
Responsible for developing and optimizing compounding extrusion processes and plant processes in accordance with the Audia values. Engineering activities include, but are not limited to: process development, optimizing machine set‑ups, rates, yields, and efficiencies, leading new product scale‑up, specification and installation/debugging of new equipment, and managing special projects. This role champions Continuous Improvement and is responsible for helping us reach higher levels of performance with our People, Products, and Process to deliver our goal of Customer Reverence.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Provides technical support to daily manufacturing operations, including process optimization, process development, new product scale‑up, equipment troubleshooting and screw design.
- Assists, as required, in the evaluation of raw materials for approved use in new or existing product formulations.
- Contributes to and participates in the development and implementation of procedures and work instructions to satisfy corporate compliance with quality management systems.
- Identifies and implements corrective actions for customer complaints and internal product build failures.
- Leads the Operating Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) meetings with manufacturing, maintenance, and quality and drives action items to closure.
- Drives and implements key initiatives (Lean, Visual Factory, Problem Solving, Etc.).
- Leads the pre‑trial planning process to ensure the safe and reliable execution of new product samples and scale‑ups.
- Works cross‑functionally and across the factory to support learning and continuous improvement.
- Supports future plant expansion projects and continuous improvement projects.
- Leads commission/validation of new equipment and processes.
- Supports all other company objectives in safety, growth, people, quality, capacity, and productivity in compliance with the Quality Management System.
- 4‑year degree in a science/engineering field OR 3 or more years of relevant manufacturing experience.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively across different skill and knowledge levels.
- Self‑motivated, willingness to learn new things.
- Ability to process information quickly and make decisions based on available data.
- Individual is expected to perform job duties safely and in compliance with documentation outlined in the Safety, Health & Environmental system.
- Actively participate in the Lafayette safety processes and emulates the Audia Safety Way in all aspects.
