This position is responsible for receiving emergency and non-emergency administrative calls and for adding the necessary information to the Computer Aided Dispatch “CAD” so that dispatchers can assign appropriate emergency personnel.
Job Duties:- Receives and screens incoming emergency 911 calls and non-emergency administrative telephone calls from the public and other public safety agencies; categorizes and prioritizes calls
- Updates CAD system with additional information from callers and responders; check all calls in system for accuracy
- Receives and process non-emergency calls for county and municipal emergency service agencies and for the National Park Service
- As requested, will assist with calling wreckers, Georgia State Patrol, Puckett EMS, Walker, Whitfield and Hamilton Counties
- Helps CAD traffic complaints, Logans Law, wrecker log, vacation watch, extra patrol, BOLO’s, private property tow log, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local statutes and departmental policies and procedures
- Knowledge of the processing of emergency calls on the CAD system
- Knowledge of dispatch procedures for various agencies
- Knowledge of the geography and road system of Catoosa County
- Knowledge of emergency medical procedures
- Skill in operating a computer and standard office equipment
- Skill in dealing with the public
- Skill in reading maps
- Skill in making decisions accurately and rapidly
- Skill in oral and written communication
