Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office Victim Witness Advocate

We are looking for a grant‑funded circuit‑paid Victim Witness Advocate. All applicants are subject to a background check, including fingerprinting, a criminal history check, a motor vehicle driver’s history check, and pre‑employment drug screening. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of each investigation. This position is subject to verification using the Department of Homeland Security’s E‑Verify System.

Responsibilities

The Victim/Witness Advocate will provide direct services and support to victims of crime in the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit and other counties as needed.

Responsibilities include:

  • Criminal Justice Support and Advocacy
  • Crisis Counseling
  • Referral Services
  • Crime Victim’s Compensation Assistance
  • Restitution Assistance
  • Notification Services
  • Court Accompaniment

Provide victims with information about their rights in relation to the judicial process, serve as a liaison between the victim and the prosecuting attorney, and act as a resource for the victim and their family through counseling referrals and specialized services.

Maintain current victim contact information, update case files and the data tracking system.

Represent the District Attorney’s designee on task forces and committees within the designated county.

Attend conferences and training in the field of victim services, assist in recruiting, training, and supervising college interns and volunteers for the Victim/Witness Assistance Program.

Other duties may be required and assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Some insight into the criminal justice system and a basic understanding of legal terminology.
Salary

Annual salary starting at $39,335.00 based on experience.
