Band Office Assistant

The Lafayette School Corporation is seeking an organized, dependable, and enthusiastic individual to serve as the Band Office Assistant supporting the Instrumental Music Program at Tecumseh Junior High School and Sunnyside Intermediate School. This position provides administrative, organizational, and logistical support to the teachers and staff of the Music Department. The Band Office Assistant plays an important role in helping the department operate efficiently while supporting the day-to-day needs of students, families, and music staff.

The successful candidate will serve as the primary office assistant for the Instrumental Music Program and will work collaboratively with the Choral Music Assistant to support the overall Music Department.

Key responsibilities include providing administrative and clerical support to instrumental music teachers and the Music Department, assisting with the organization and day-to-day operation of the band and instrumental music programs, supporting the organization, distribution, collection, and tracking of instruments, uniforms, music, equipment, and other program materials, and communicating professionally and effectively with students, parents/guardians, staff, vendors, and community members.

The position also involves assisting with preparations and logistics for concerts, performances, competitions, rehearsals, and other Music Department activities, attending and assisting with designated evening concerts, performances, competitions, and other events, and performing other related duties as assigned. Some evening and weekend work will be required in connection with concerts, competitions, and other Music Department events. Overtime may be available when appropriate.

The successful candidate should demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, strong attention to detail and accuracy, ability to work effectively and professionally with students, families, teachers, administrators, and community members, ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a collaborative team, dependability, professionalism, and discretion, comfort using computers and common office technology, and an appreciation for music education and supporting student activities.
