Program Aide

Position Title

Part-Time Paraprofessional at Jefferson High School (Fluent in Spanish)

Location

Lafayette Jefferson High School

Hours

29 Hours Per Week (when school is in session)

Wage

$15.25 per hour

Primary Function

Paraprofessionals work directly under the supervision of licensed classroom teachers. All paraprofessionals are responsible to ensure the safety and instruction of students across all activities and locations. Also, Paraprofessionals are responsible to maintain complete confidentiality about students and their records. Provide support to Multilingual learners in a resource room setting.

Reports To

The Paraprofessional reports directly to the Classroom Teacher, building administrator or their designee.

Qualifications
  • 48 hours of earned credit or
  • Passed the Para Pro assessment (may start without the Para Pro certification at a lower pay rate until the certification has been earned)
  • Fluent in Spanish
Performance Responsibilities
  • Primarily (but not exclusively) focused on providing instructional support for English Language Learners based on language needs.
  • The ELL Paraprofessional will implement supplemental instruction for students in English, Math, or other academic subjects.
  • Regularly collaborate with classroom teachers and work under the direct supervision of licensed certified teachers.
  • Assist teachers with assessment activities to gather information about students’ current levels of performance, both strengths and weaknesses.
  • Work with individual and small groups of students using age and developmentally appropriate curriculum activities.
  • Assist with supplementary work for students and supervise independent study.
  • Assist with preparing individualized instructional materials.
  • Observe and record information about students’ performance.
