Edgelea Elementary SchoolPOSITION TITLE: Paraprofessional in Dual Lanaguage Immersion Classroom (Kindergarten)

RATE: $15.40 per hour

HOURS: 29 hours per week Monday through Friday 9:00am-3:30pm (when school is in session)

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Paraprofessionals work directly under the supervision of the classroom teacher. All paraprofessionals are responsible to ensure the safety and instruction of students across all activities and locations. Also, paraprofessionals are responsible to maintain complete confidentiality about students and their records.

REPORTS TO:
The paraprofessional reports directly to the building administrator or their designee.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 48 hours of earned credit or
  • Passed the Para Pro assessment (may start without the Para Pro certification at a lower pay rate until the certification has been earned)
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Typical duties assigned to Paraprofessionals in a DLI setting may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Implement instruction for DLI students in reading and/or math in grades K-4
  • Implement instruction for Multi-Language students in language acquisition in grades K-4
  • Engage in regular collaboration with the DLI teacher and with other classroom teachers as needed
  • Assist teachers with assessment activities to gather information about students' current levels of performance, both strengths and weaknesses
  • Work with individual and small groups of students using age and developmentally appropriate curriculum activities
  • Assist with supplementary work for students and supervise independent study
  • Assist with preparing individualized instructional materials
  • Observe and record information about students' performance
  • Attend staff meetings at the request of the DLI teacher or building administrator
