Overview
Seeking an Electrical Engineer to support, upgrade, and optimize plant production and facility systems at a manufacturing operation in Lafayette, IN. This role is ideal for a technically strong, hands-on engineer who enjoys managing capital projects, improving equipment reliability, and partnering closely with maintenance and operations to drive plant performance.
What You’ll DoAs an Electrical Engineer, you will design, plan, and implement electrical engineering projects focused on improving production equipment, plant systems, and overall operational efficiency. You’ll play a critical role in supporting plant profitability, safety, and long-term capital improvement initiatives.
Electrical Engineer Responsibilities- Managing electrical engineering projects to meet design specifications, budgets, timelines, and performance goals
- Engineering electrical upgrades to production equipment, including panels, PLCs, AC/DC drives, HMIs, temperature controllers, alarm systems, and process monitoring systems
- Supporting maintenance teams by troubleshooting and resolving electrical and electronic issues
- Writing and modifying PLC, HMI, and PC-based programs for automation and control systems
- Designing and documenting schematics, layouts, control panels, and automated control solutions
- Researching, costing, and submitting work orders and capital expenditure requests
- Coordinating with vendors, suppliers, purchasing, and outside shops for equipment and materials
- Supporting cost-reduction initiatives through improved engineering design and implementation
- Ensuring compliance with electrical codes and local, state, and federal regulations
- Maintaining organized engineering, equipment, and financial documentation
- Supporting plant safety, environmental, and security initiatives through engineering design
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
- OR an Associate’s degree with 3+ years of experience in industrial manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, power distribution, and plant engineering
- Hands-on experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen Bradley required)
- Experience programming and supporting VFDs and HMIs across multiple platforms
- Proficiency with automation and design software, including:
- RSLogix 500/5000, Studio 5000, Factory Talk View ME, Siemens Step-7, EZ Series, C-More, and AutoCAD
- Strong analytical, project management, and multitasking skills
- Ability to support multiple projects while providing plant-wide technical support
