Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Quality/Test Engineer 2 (Supplier Quality Engineer). The work will be done onsite full-time at the customer’s facility in Lafayette, IN. This is a 6-month position with a strong possibility of extension based on performance and business needs. Compensation is up to $38/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job SummaryCullerton Group is seeking a Quality Engineer to support manufacturing quality operations by investigating quality issues, coordinating containment activities, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role works closely with cross-functional teams to resolve production and supplier-related quality concerns while minimizing impact to manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and comfortable working hands‑on in a production environment.
Key Responsibilities- Review rejects from incoming quality inspection and the production floor
- Investigate critical quality issues, develop clear problem statements, and communicate findings to cross‑functional teams
- Manage and coordinate containment activities (sorting and rework) to reduce production impact
- Support problem‑solving and continuous improvement projects
- Coordinate the disposition of Process Change Notifications and Deviations
- Reports directly to the Quality Manager (no direct reports)
- Works closely with supplier, production, engineering, supplier development, logistics, and third‑party service teams
- Split time between office and manufacturing floor environments
- 2–4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (internships accepted)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience
- Experience in quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, or quality technician roles
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Data collection and analysis
- Problem‑solving and critical thinking
- Gages and measurement tools
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of internal combustion engines
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, or science
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification
- Positive attitude with the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Patient, organized, and collaborative team player
