General Engineering Lab Test Engineer – Responsible for compliance testing, verification and validation of Landis+Gyr products, developing procedures and equipment used in the General Engineering Lab and across North America.

Responsibilities
  • Review test plans, estimate project time and cost, and communicate requirements to Lab Supervisor/Manager.
  • Evaluate test parameters to ensure they are within compliance with product specifications.
  • Analyze test data to confirm consistency with compliance standards.
  • Design, develop, document, validate, qualify and implement test procedures, equipment and platforms to ensure product quality.
  • Convert test specifications into functional programs and procedures for appropriate operator level.
  • Develop, document and train technical personnel on installation and operating procedures, including coaching of cooperative student engineers.
  • Determine appropriate data for recording and evaluation during testing, establish data flow and storage mechanisms.
  • Install, calibrate, and certify test equipment in the General Engineering Lab.
  • Modify test systems, templates and procedures to support new products, revisions, features and bug fixes – ensuring tester reliability, validity, correlation and traceability.
  • Provide test, certification and calibration reports; coordinate testing with external labs as needed.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the Lab Supervisor/Manager.
  • Represent Landis+Gyr professionally when interacting with external and internal customers.
  • Support Hardware Development, Manufacturing and Supplier Quality initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience with laboratory equipment (DC power supply, oscilloscope, digital multimeter).
  • Proficiency in schematic capture tools and circuit simulation (SPICE).
  • Ability to read schematics and identify standard electrical components.
  • Experience in soldering electronics.
  • Knowledge of power supply fundamentals, microcontroller operation, high‑frequency signal and digital signal characteristics.
  • Familiarity with development processes, tools and related frameworks.
  • Understanding of relevant development and validation methodologies.
  • Knowledge of AMI and Smart Grid Systems and Solutions.
  • Proficient with Excel, Word and PowerPoint; competent keyboard typing skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, design test methodologies and evaluate compliance with minimal oversight.
  • Application of engineering principles to specialized areas, drawing solutions from formal training and experience.

Education and Experience
  • At least 1–5 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
Benefits and Compensation
  • Annual salary range: $74,200 – $100,287.
