Mechanical Engineer

Lafayette, IN
Duration: 01 years of contract with possibility of extension
Job Description:
- Executing key project tasks to support the component design engineer
- Key point of contact for print work (detailing & releasing) and CAD design work
- Supporting new component design with APQP collaboration work with external suppliers
- Helping to ensure customer success by correcting product problems
Typical task breakdown:
Print work, component modeling, APQP, TFC, tolerance stack-up, deviation investigation, parts inspection, etc.

- Basic understanding of gas and/or diesel engine operation
- Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint proficiency
- Creo / Teamcenter knowledge

- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work well independently / collaborative member of a cross functional team
- Large gas and/or diesel troubleshooting skills
- Understanding of Caterpillar engine product configuration
- Caterpillar 6 Sigma training
- Proficiency working with computers and computer systems. Software programs used frequently include, but not limited to:
Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point, Creo, Team Center
