Mechanical Engineer, CAD/ AutoCAD/ Mechanical Design
Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer 2. The work will be performed 100% onsite in Lafayette, Indiana
. This is a 12-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $38/hour + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401(k), and holiday pay).
Cullerton Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and continuous improvement of engine components and mechanical systems. This role will work closely with design engineers on component modeling, engineering documentation, product releases, supplier collaboration, and issue resolution. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical engineering foundation, CAD experience, and enjoys working in a collaborative engineering environment supporting new product development and continuous product improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Support component design activities through CAD modeling, detailing, print creation, and engineering releases.
- Research, design, develop, and validate mechanical components, systems, and related equipment.
- Investigate product issues, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with suppliers during APQP activities and support new product development.
- Create engineering drawings, perform tolerance stack-up analyses, inspect parts, and assist with product documentation.
- Provide project updates and coordinate activities with design engineers and cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
- 0-4 years of engineering experience (at least one year of internship experience is acceptable).
- Basic understanding of gas and/or diesel engine operation.
- Experience with CAD software, preferably Creo
, and familiarity with Teamcenter
. - Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Strong communication, organization, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work onsite full‑time in Lafayette, IN.
- Experience with APQP processes and supplier collaboration.
- Knowledge of tolerance stack‑up analysis and mechanical component design.
- Strong data analysis and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working in cross‑functional engineering teams.
- Familiarity with large gas or diesel engine systems.
- Exposure to Six Sigma methodologies or continuous improvement initiatives.
