ABB Robotics Engineer

Role Description The ABB Robotics Engineer will work on-site in Lafayette, IN on a contract basis, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, program, and optimize ABB robotic systems for industrial applications. Day-to-day responsibilities include configuring and troubleshooting ABB robot controllers, developing and modifying robot programs, and integrating robotics solutions with existing production equipment and automation systems. The role involves analyzing manufacturing processes, identifying opportunities for automation, and implementing improvements that enhance productivity, quality, and safety.

The engineer will document technical specifications, create test plans, and support commissioning, maintenance, and ongoing optimization of robotic cells. This position also requires clear communication with operators, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure successful deployment and continuous improvement of robotics solutions.

• Program, troubleshoot, and optimize ABB industrial robots using Robot Studio
• Support robotic systems across assembly, test, and paint operations
• Integrate ABB robots with PLCs, tooling, sensors, and peripheral equipment
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective solutions
• Optimize robot configurations, cabling, harnesses, and end-of-arm tooling
• Support robot commissioning, testing, and production start-up
• Collaborate with Controls, Manufacturing, Quality, and Maintenance teams
• Drive robotic system optimization and continuous improvement

• 5+ years of robotics/automation experience
• Strong hands-on ABB robot programming and troubleshooting
• Proficiency with ABB Robot Studio
• Experience with Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLC integration
• Engineering or related technical degree
