Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a mixed acuity PCU position requiring solid neuro experience, ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications, and Cerner proficiency.

Details

• Short-term acute care hospital setting with 194 staffed beds

• Mixed acuity unit (MPCU) serving both medical-surgical and progressive care level patients

• Specialty areas include oncology, stroke, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary

• MS patient ratio is 1:5–6; PCU patient ratio is 1:3–4

• Manages IV drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lasix, and Insulin

• Cares for post-heart cath and post-pacemaker patients, as well as post-Watchman and post-ablation patients

• Unstable stroke patients and BiPAP management are part of the caseload

• Day shift, 4x12-hour shifts (6:00–18:30)

• Charting via Cerner (required)

• Free parking on site

• Red top and black bottom scrubs required

Requirements

• Active IN RN license, compact license, or IN temporary license required in hand prior to start

• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (AHA and RQI formats accepted)

• Minimum 18 months to 2 years of RN experience required

• Strong MS/Tele or PCU background required

• Solid neuro experience required

• Cerner EMR experience required

• Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited program required

• SSN and DOB required for consideration

• 2 supervisor references required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Local candidates (Indiana residents) are not accepted for this position

• All travelers are required to float within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate facility

• Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays

• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional RTO requires facility approval

• Any permanent or PRN employee of IU Health must have a 12-month break before applying as a traveler

• Current or past IU Health travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within the IU Health system are required to take a designated consecutive break to reset travel eligibility (effective

• Out-of-state travelers require a 90-day break and in-state travelers require a 180-day break to reset eligibility prior to reaching their year mark

• As of, Indiana-licensed RNs are not permitted to work at IU Health facilities in standard nursing roles; this position is not exempt from that rule
