The Director of Supply Chain provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all supply chain activities at Evonik's Tippecanoe manufacturing site. This role is responsible for leading production planning, forecasting, materials management, warehousing, shipping, customer service, and inventory operations to ensure reliable supply, efficient site performance, and exceptional customer support. As a key member of the Site Leadership Team, the Director partners closely with manufacturing, operations, and business stakeholders to align supply chain strategy with production requirements, customer needs, and long‑term business objectives.

The role drives continuous improvement, optimizes asset utilization and production scheduling, develops organizational capability, and leads cross‑functional initiatives that enhance operational excellence across the site.

Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead and develop the site Supply Chain organization, including production planning, forecasting, warehousing, materials management, shipping, receiving, and customer service.
  • Build, coach, and mentor high‑performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure effective resource planning and organizational alignment to support business objectives and customer requirements.
  • Drive talent development, succession planning, performance management, and leadership growth across the department.
  • Partner with site and corporate leaders to support strategic supply chain initiatives and organizational development programs.
Strategy/Business Objectives
  • Lead site operations planning, production scheduling, and forecasting to achieve business objectives and meet customer demand.
  • Develop and execute supply chain strategy, goals, KPIs, and performance metrics in alignment with business and global supply chain priorities.
  • Drive site performance through effective management of revenue, net working capital (NWC), and on‑time, in‑full (OTIF) customer delivery.
  • Lead the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process, balancing production capacity, customer forecasts, new business opportunities, and changing demand.
  • Oversee warehouse operations, inventory management, material flow, spare parts, and compliance with applicable storage and import/export regulations.
  • Manage relationships with customers, auditors, and external stakeholders regarding supply chain, logistics, scheduling, and inventory activities.
  • Serve as a key member of the site leadership team, championing safety, continuous improvement, productivity, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Manage departmental budgets, drive cost savings, and optimize working capital through effective inventory and production planning strategies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive supply chain, operations, logistics, or manufacturing experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles, production planning, inventory management, and operational processes.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and business objectives in a fast‑paced setting.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, negotiation, and decision‑making capabilities, with a focus on achieving business results.
  • APICS/ASCM and/or Six Sigma certification preferred; experience in process improvement and operational excellence methodologies is highly desirable.
