Logistics Coordinator

Job Description

The Logistics Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and timely flow of work and materials within and between departments in alignment with the production schedule. This position focuses on reviewing and distributing production, work, and shipment schedules, tracking inventory levels and costs, and compiling accurate reports that support efficient operations. The role requires strong attention to detail, effective coordination across teams, and a solid understanding of logistics and inventory processes.

Responsibilities

+ Coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within and between departments according to the production schedule.

+ Review and distribute production, work, and shipment schedules to ensure timely and accurate execution.

+ Examine documents, materials, and products and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformity to standards and specifications.

+ Review documents such as production schedules, work orders, and staffing tables to determine personnel and material requirements and establish material priorities.

+ Record production data, including volume produced, consumption of raw materials, and quality control measures, to support reporting and analysis.

+

Requisition and maintain inventories of materials and supplies necessary to meet production demands.

+ Compile reports on inventory levels, costs, and production metrics to support decision-making.

+ Collaborate with team members and other departments to resolve issues related to logistics, inventory, and scheduling.

+ Provide responsive customer service support related to logistics and shipment coordination as needed.

Essential Skills

+ Prior and recent experience using Microsoft Excel for data entry, tracking, and reporting.

+ Knowledge or experience in logistics or trucking operations.

+ Recent experience working within a team environment and supporting team objectives.

+

Experience with inventory-related tasks such as tracking, maintaining, or reconciling stock levels.

+ Strong attention to detail and ability to assess completeness and accuracy of documents and materials.

+ Ability to interpret production schedules, work orders, and staffing tables to determine requirements and priorities.

+ Effective communication skills to coordinate with multiple departments and team members.

+ Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, schedules, and inventory demands simultaneously.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Recent graduates with relevant coursework or internships in logistics, supply chain, operations, or related fields are welcome.

+ Basic understanding of quality control measures and production data tracking.

+ Customer service experience in a logistics or operations setting.

+ Interest in developing a career in logistics coordination, supply chain, or operations management.

Work Environment

This role operates in a production-oriented environment where coordination between departments is essential to meeting schedules and inventory demands. Work typically involves regular use of Microsoft Excel and other office productivity tools, as well as frequent interaction with team members across operations, logistics, and inventory functions. The position requires consistent attention to detail, adherence to established standards and specifications, and responsiveness to changing production needs.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Lafayette, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
