Utilities Repair Technician - 2nd Shift

Lafayette, Indiana
Minimum hourly pay $38.52 per hour plus a 6% shift premium, sign‑on bonus up to $5,000, and a relocation lump sum up to $15,000.

Role OverviewUtilities Repair Technician needed at the Large Power Systems Division located in Lafayette, IN. The candidate will mechanically troubleshoot and repair complex domestic and foreign machines and related equipment used for assembly, torque, and material movement within the assembly areas.
Shift & Work Schedule- 2nd Shift (2:30pm – 10:30pm)
- 40‑hour work week with potential for overtime
- 13 days / 104 hours of paid Personal Time Off (PTO), prorated based on start date
- 11 paid holidays
- Mechanical and/or electrical repair of machine tools and related equipment.
- Installation, repair, and maintenance of hydraulic systems, precision bearings, HVAC, and other controllers.
- Operation and maintenance of boilers, pumps, P&H cranes and hoists, conveyors, torque tools, washers, ABB robots, paint booths, test cells.
- Leveling and alignment of machines, shafts, and gearing; welding, lubrication, pipe‑fitting, and tube‑bending.
- Work overtime as needed to support production demands.
- Minimum 5 years of industrial utilities and repair experience.
- Completed an approved HVAC training program with practical experience.
- Experience troubleshooting pneumatic and hydraulic systems, compressors, valves.
- Proven boiler operator experience and ability to read/write mechanical prints.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting, welding, cutting skills, and ability to operate basic tools.
- Self‑starter, motivated, able to work individually and within a team.
- Experience with ABB robots is a plus.
- Fast‑paced, medium‑to‑heavy duty assembly/technical environment.
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, turning, climbing, standing on concrete for 8+ hours.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds and perform frequent repetitive hand and tooling movements.
- Capability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Non‑apprenticeship role.
- Relocation lump sum payment for eligible candidates up to $15,000.
